Yeah the difference in real life is more so than on this poor recording, but it does come through still. I really need to get some recording hardware.

I have a Deluxe Big Muff Pi (blend switch version) from about 1980 or so, which I believe is also an Op-Amp Muff. I wonder if it’s the same circuit, apart from the compressor of course.
I read on FS.O that it is the same circuit, this hasn’t been verified by EHX though.
I originally ordered it before the XO’s were advertised. We were told a two month backorder. Then all the adverts started showing up. Then the release dates coincided with my backorder ETA. Two weeks ago, I had Jason, from PN’S, call up EHX, to see if we could still get the big box. EHX told him that they only had the XO’x. The message on my phone, today, was only, “your Graphic Fuzz is in.”
If they have a Big Muff w/ Tone Wicker there tomorrow, I’m picking that up also. Well depending on the price that is. Less than $130 and I’ll grab it.
. . . a dirt box that sounds ball park (but with far more tonal options) like a WOOLY MAMMOTH !!!
I honestly think there is a market for such a beast !
Maybe in the same enclosure as the biggest Metal Muff, to have enough surface space for all the tonal knobs and toggles that will make it the ultimate tonal shaping Fuzz Monster !
I know my collection is not complete without such a pedal . . .
PLEASE EHX !!!
I designed a pedal, and I will be selling them soon, that is woolly mammothXbig muffXfuzzface-esque. It has volume tone and midscoop knobs. Its very bassy but never boomy, it has nice definition of notes and the midscoop knob allows you dial in either mid hump of midscoop, scooped as low as the swollen pickle. I don’t like to yank my own chain but its a sick fuzz and it definitely my favorite. When I start selling them I will post on HCFX about it.
My influence for making such a pedal was the Big muff(it has a modified big muff tonestack) and the fuzzface and of course the band EARTH, I wanted to blend the two but have a unique sound as the result. I’d love nothing more than to see EHX making one of my pedals but I doubt they’d want to make one of MY pedals.

-I’m getting a CopilotFX Antenna Bit Crusher (that’s what the 2nd expression pedal will be for)
-also getting an A/B/Y switcher with an XLR in to go in front of my SMMH
-also I’ll probably build an effects order swapper pedal to switch the order of my volume pedal and my SMMH
-I’m also planning on adding a bass big muff and a big muff with tone wicker eventually
-Polyphase is off the board, little big muff and pulsar will come off the board to make room for the 2 new big muffs
I hope this can help:
Wicker Switch — Activate Wicker Mode by flipping the switch up to the ON position where the high frequency bandwidth is opened up for a bright and clear top end. Set the switch to OFF to obtain the classic Big Muff Pi (NYC) sound.
Tone Switch — Allows the user to activate the Tone Knob or completely bypass the tone circuitry. When the Tone switch is set to ON, the Tone Knob is active, just like a NYC Big Muff. When the Tone switch is set to OFF, the Tone Knob and all of its circuitry is bypassed. This setting yields a totally new Muff distortion with a powerful drive and uncolored gain. Please Note: It is normal for the output volume of your Big Muff Pi with Tone Wicker to increase when moving the Tone switch from ON to OFF.
EHman would know for sure, but I think they stopped when the company dissolved in ’83, then returned to transistors for the Reissue when the company revived in the 90s.

You guys and your insane gain desires, as if the Big Muff Pi needs more gain. C’mon, no matter how much Viagra you pump yourself with, your size still has a limit :poke:
lol
good point. it doesn’t sound like a lot of gain to me. actually it sounds a little smoother. that’s why I do it.
My muffs are” 78 OPAMP , NYC3003-A model, LBM-modded into a 3003-A, Black russianXNYC(sounds somewhere between the two), an NYC muff in a black russian enclosure. First green sovtek, version 6 81 muff, BMPTW,
The small stone is a 79 TB’d, I TB’d the micro synth, everything else is stock.
What a pedal. It can sound like the original Big Muff Pi but it can be edited for unique and powerful new distortions. The Big Muff Pi with Tone Wicker has a breathing and open tone. That is what I love… the real variability for new sounds that still have the Big Muff Pi attitude. With the setting where the tone control is removed, it has such a heavy crunch. When you dial back it keeps the crunch but it is the kind that fits any style.

I have great news to share! The Big Muff Pi with Tone Wicker will be shipping this week from our factory. Your local music shop should have them next week. Your amp will love you more now than before.
